Steve brings more than 25 years of experience as an executive, operator and investment professional supporting entrepreneurial startups to devise and implement growth strategies. He is both a Venture Advisor at ASV and interim Head of Finance at Jump Ramp; and was formerly CFO at Penn Interactive and Boston Technologies (sold to FXDD), Director at Innovation Advisors, CAO at Portware (sold to FactSet) and CFO at Andrew Davidson and Co. Steve started his VC career at Edison Venture Fund, an established VC firm that concentrates in the Mid-Atlantic region. He ran Edison’s well-regarded deal sourcing operation and worked on multiple investments, including EdgeTrade (sold to Knight Capital), GTetraData (sold to Follett), Operative (sold to Sintec Media), M5 Networks (sold to ShoreTel), Scivantage and Regent Education (sold to private equity investors). In the late 1990s, Steve held multiple roles at Instinet, where he helped establish the Strategic Investment Group.
“I work in VC because I get a front row seat to observing how technologies can change people's everyday lives, meeting inspiring entrepreneurs who never give up, and helping support projects than contribute to bettering the world we leave behind! I'm not a fan of the huge VC funds overfunding startups and using the spray and pray strategy of investing. They win big on, say, 1 of 20 but leave 19 entrepreneurs with broken dreams. At ASV, we care about people.”
